Faisant partie du prestigieux groupe hôtelier Banyan Tree, la collection Angsana Riads composée de 6 maisons d'hôtes se distingue par son service digne des hôtels les plus luxueux.
This Riad is perfectly located in the Medina. Just 7 rooms, beautifully presented and great staff. Possibly a bit pricey for us generally but it had only just re-opened as part of the Banyan Tree (Angsana) group so it was very quiet and we got a good deal. We stayed 4 nights, 3 days, after a week driving in the South and tended to go out for the morning (after a superb breakfast on the roof terrace) then lounge around on the roof terrace in the afternoon. We mostly had it to ourselves and because they do not yet have a liquor license the manager showed us where to buy our own rosé to sip on the roof. It was just over 5 mins walk to the big square but after looking round the souks the best leather bags we found were within yards of the riad's door. There's also a good Ansana Thai/Moroccan restaurant just round the corner and you can get massages etc in the riad. My wife liked the scrub.
We have recently returned for a 5 day trip to Marrakech: it was one of the best short trips we have ever taken. We decided to stay in the medina to get a real feel for the old city. Riad si said was recommended by our travel agent and she was absolutely right. Not only was the location ideal (a couple of minutes form taxis, a few minute walk to the square and the markets), not only were the facilities excellent (jaccuzzi and solarium on roof, small but welcoming swimming pool, hammam and massage, the masseur trained in the University of Massage in Thailand (pure bliss)), not only was the decor exquisite, and rooms beautifully (comfortable beds, loads of room, original features, we had a room overlooking the courtyard, more of a suite of rooms than a room) but what made it so special was the service. The manager is a Swiss fellow called Serge, he and his team made us feel like royalty from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. At our welcome speech and drink, they even handed out local mobile phones with their numbers pre-programmed in case we should need anything at all, or just want to talk to each other (myself and my wife were with a group of 8 people.)Marrakech was wonderful place to visit but Riad si said provided the finishing touches.(p.s if you are of a stronger disposition ask Serge the history of the fountain in the courtyard)”
